We are looking for a dynamic Director of Business Development, Distributed Generation to lead the process of connecting our innovative solar tracking technology to Distributed Generation projects in the United States.  You will be responsible for leading the sales growth of the Voyager Tracker product line in the Distributed Generation segment and will be focused on achieving prospecting and pipeline generation targets.

Additionally, we are looking for someone who has deep understanding of the dynamics of complex projects, who understands the Distributed Generation solar universe well, and who can strategize effectively to stay several steps ahead of likely problems. You will be part of a fast-paced, collaborative team bringing essential solar technology to projects in the US. You lead by example and demonstrate professionalism and integrity in the work that you do. You know the right questions to ask, get clarity, prioritize, and then execute.


  • Nurture and maintain relationships with Distributed Generation solar partners and strategic accounts to ensure that FTC remains the supplier of choice of single axis tracking systems
  • Educate and generate awareness within the Distributed Generation community, with a “tech first” mentality and effective messaging strategy which highlights the advantages of FTC’s Tracker Technology and our turn-key installation solution
  • Drive lead generation and work closely with our DG Solution installation partners to generate a robust and active sales pipeline with developers, EPCs, installers, distributors, investors and utility companies
  • Provide input regarding marketing and product positioning strategies specific to the US and assigned markets
  • Assist with forecast of revenue on a regular basis and review sales results to ensure that established targets are being met; take corrective action when required
  • Assist the product management teams to define and improve the product portfolio for use in the US market by regularly gathering feedback from customers, business partners, and by closely monitoring industry trends
  • Work with the US and global executive management team and colleagues to ensure that sales targets are being defined and met


  • 3+ years of experience in the Distributed Generation Solar market
  • Proven experience in business development, especially within a high growth / start-up firm
  • Demonstrated appetite to drive growth of the division and have a hunter mindset
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with business partners (“Challenger” and “Trusted Advisor” Mentality and Capability)
  • Leadership and influencing abilities – able to pull together cross-functional team members to solve problems and ensure business objectives are met
  • Problem-solving ability and strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills with MS Office suite, as well as other industry-standard tools and software
  • Basic knowledge of contract law and project accounting
  • Analytical and detail oriented
  • Creative and able to problem solve in a highly dynamic environment
  • Exceptional writing and oral communication skills
  • Comfort with ambiguity
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
